A Psalm 27 Reflection on Discernment, Protection, & Pursuing God’s Will

There are moments when you can sense the enemy is near. Others may think you’re being oversensitive, but no, your discernment is heightened. Unlike animals, humans tend to disregard their God-given intuition to sense when a predator is near; even the ant, who has no ears, yet can sense danger approaching, survives. As Solomon suggests to us to consider the ant in Proverbs 6: 6 - 8, she has no leader, no guide, no ruler, only what God placed within her. She trusts and leans on that instinct. And how much more should we, who have the Holy Spirit, trust the discernment God has given us?
Sometimes we can hear the enemy like Elijah, you can hear the whispered secrets spoken in their private conversations. And yes, knowing that the enemy observes you with ill intent can sting. Feeling preyed upon hurts and pierces the heart. But even in that awareness, I refuse to be paralyzed by fear. I run, hasten, and hide in the Word of God.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1
Although you can feel the enemy plotting and casting his eyes on you, seeking to take advantage and devour. You can even see them setting plans in place, maneuvering, seeking to kill, steal, and destroy what God has promised and the provisions He has set aside for you. When the enemy has forewarned you of an "ambushment", sometimes you can see the lies as they come out of their mouths, landing on your ears smooth as butter, yet the Holy Spirit warns you that there is war in their hearts.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
I Peter 5:8
Yes, the devil is a thief! But Glory to God! Jesus came that we might have life, and that more abundantly!
In my devotion time today, praying out of Psalm 27, the Lord impressed this passage on me: “Seek ye My face.”And my heart responded, “Thy face, Lord, will I seek.”
When the enemy is plotting against you, ready to snatch the very blessings God has for you…When satan is watching you, attempting to keep you from walking in step with the ordered steps of God, surrounding you and trying to close in…Stand on and Hide within the Unfailing Word of God!
I trust, no matter what I hear, feel, or even physically see, that God will lift my head.
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me.
Psalm 27:6

I have committed to remaining intentional in seeking God’s face continually for direction.
I choose to stay aligned with the places, paths, and provisions He has preordained.
“Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice…Teach me Thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.”
Psalm 27:7, 11
This is one of those moments for me in which I can sense the enemy near. I am praying daily, all the day long, trusting that I will not be delivered to the will of those whom the enemy is trying to use to stop the plans of God in my life. What God has already ordained, stamped, prepared, and assigned, that is what I’m chasing, seeking after. Nothing more. Nothing less.
“Lord, let Your will be done in my life—on earth as it is in Heaven.”
This is why I am a Destiny Chaser! All of Heaven is working for me for His plans for me to come to pass! Are there moments of discouragement? Yes! But like David, I declare: “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.” — Psalm 27:13
The enemy may be chasing me, that's what he does. But more importantly, so is the goodness of God. And here is what I know for sure down in my soul is: The harder the enemy chases me, the harder I CHASE God.
Destiny Chaser - One who actively pursues the will, presence,
and purpose of God with intention and obedience.
So, I encouraged myself today through the Psalmist David, and I encourage you too:
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the Lord.”, Psalm 27:14
Keep chasing God. Keep trusting God. Keep seeking His face with intention and expectation. Because everything He has preordained for you, before the foundation of the world, before the world was, before the world began, is still yours!
