"Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, And he sins who hastens with his feet.” — Proverbs 19:2 (NKJV)
This powerful proverb reminds me of the words Jesus spoke during the Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)
Both Scriptures speak volumes about the importance of desiring and seeking wisdom. I strongly believe seeking wisdom is essential to life! We should desire to grow, advance, learn, and transform into all God would have us to be. To live fully in God’s will, we must remain hungry and thirsty for the knowledge of God.
I pray I never reach a place where I feel as though I’ve “arrived.” That’s a dangerous place! To think there’s nothing else God can show me, no new wonder to behold, is to deny the beauty of daily revelation, daily manna from heaven. Every day is a gift! Every day brings new mercies, and with that, new grace to grow deeper in Christ.
God’s Word is a living Word! His Word speaks, corrects, instructs, Comforts, leads, and guides us. His Word teaches us who He is, and the Word reveals. When we no longer desire wisdom or seek understanding, we become stagnant. We are in danger of becoming spiritually dry, emotionally drained, and directionless. Proverbs warns us that a soul without knowledge doesn’t just wander, it sins. Wow! I imagine it's like a desert place, where the rain has ceased from falling. The Book of Proverbs consistently contrasts wisdom with folly. Either we're desiring to be wise, or we will become fools.
But if we desire wisdom, if we seek knowledge, God becomes a wonder to our soul, because He is a wonder! And He is willing to fill us again and again. I want Him to fill my cup, fill my soul, and shape me into the person He has predestined me to be.
So, my prayer for you and me today is that we continue to seek wisdom, so we can keep growing! . Allow the Word of God to speak fresh life into you daily. Spiritual growth is not optional; it’s essential.
I would like to invite you to incorporate reading from Proverbs into your daily devotional time. It's simple, simply follow the calendar. Each month, I start with the first chapter. If the month only has 30 days, I read 30 and 31 on the last day of the month. This has been my practice since October 2020. It has been transformational.
Blessings & Love to You!
