Before I Die
Poetry & Prose - Coffee Table Edition
Self-love is like joy. It's more of an action than a feeling. You have joy even when you don't feel happy. It's a blessed assurance!
This is how I'm learning to feel about self-love. I say learning because I had an epiphany aka a talk with Jesus the other morning. One morning last week during my devotional time, the Lord began to speak to me about loving myself.
I must admit I'm a romantic! I love, love! Eros love is something I want my life to be filled with. Amazingly to me the Holy Spirit reminded me of some words I wrote in my journal, a poem, about eros love.
When I journal I am writing from my soul. It's where I do my soul's work!
Wisdom Gem #1 - Develop a Prayer & Meditation Time
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of
the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10
When we think of fearing the Lord we often misinterpret what fearing the Lord really means. It means to reverence Him. You reverence who God is! You honor who He is in your life, Jesus Christ, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Because I reverence His presence in my life, in Him I live and move and have my being, Acts 17:28, I recognize when the Holy Spirit is speaking to me. And I am grateful for the grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, when I heard the Holy Spirit say, "Love yourself the way you desire to be loved!" And the words from the prose I wrote in my journal came back to me, I stood in reverence. In my own words I expressed that, I want to be in love like my breath depends on it and to walk to the ends of the earth with the one I love and who loves me.
Beautiful words, right? The Holy Spirit was instructing me to love myself, Pamela, in this manner. To be so in love with me that I take my own breath away! To be in awe of me! To be willing to walk to the end of the earth for me!
Wow! I hear you. Sounds self absorbed! But it's not! As a man thinks in his heart so is he! Proverbs 23:7. Being dissatisfied can cause us to forget who we are. Therefore, not loving yourself comes from your heart, your soul, and causes dissatisfaction.
Wisdom Gem #2 - Know Who You Are!
Who are we?
For thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works;
And that my soul knoweth right well.
Psalms 139: 13 - 15
There goes that word again, fear. We are God's creation! How can we reverence God and not be in awe of His creation? How can I love God and not love who He created? I am the works of His hands, and they are marvelous!
My soul should know who I am! My soul should love who I am! I was covered by Him and His love, in my mother's womb waiting to begin the journey I was destined to travel. For my journey, gifts and talents were provided, and they came with the breath of God. How dare I not love what God Himself has CREATED?
Wisdom Gem #3 - Repent!
Repent for rejecting what He has called GOOD! The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom! How dare I not be in awe of His creation! I'm His creation just like the clouds in the sky and the mountains that reach to try to kiss them.
Repent for being dissatisfied with others! I'm learning the dissatisfaction was in me! I need to love Pamela! I needed to fall in love with ME! I needed to reverence the creation of God, ME!
Wisdom Gem #4 - Gratitude
Be grateful that you're here! Grateful that you're chosen, and seek the purpose your life and talents are here to serve and all for His Glory! That's why He created YOU!
