Manipulation vs Truth:my Souls'work

There are two things I deeply despise: I hate to be used or manipulated. God hates these characteristics, too. Proverbs 6:16 tells us there are six things the Lord hates, and two of them: a lying tongue and a heart that devises wicked imaginings, fall under the behavior of those who use and manipulate others. Inflicting this behavior on others insults their God-given capacity to see, understand, hear, and recognize truth.

I regret it when I allow myself to be used or manipulated. I take responsibility and the onus for my vulnerability. I recognize it’s still a place in my soul where the Holy Spirit needs to heal. Romans 8:26 reminds us that the Spirit helps us in our infirmities. It may sound strange, but the desire to be loved can be a weakness, one the enemy can exploit. God’s love is sufficient to fill every longing if we allow Him to do so. We are responsible for the work of our souls, and allowing ourselves to be manipulated and exploited only distracts us from God’s plans for our lives and his thoughts towards us (Jeremiah 29:11).

I'm so irritated, and truthfully hurt, at myself for allowing myself to be a pun in someone else's plot that I paused to examine my heart. Lord, I repent for using and manipulating others. I pray that you forgive me and create in me a clean heart (Psalms 51). I want to be better for your Glory! That I may be fruitful in what you have asked me to do. I'm praying that the relationships I have are rooted in love, with love being the only requirement.

Now back to this manipulation! Manipulation is subtle. It presents pseudo-answers that feel and sound like truth. It appeals t o our fears, insecurities, and secret desires. It promises to tangibly and emotionally fulfill our need for acceptance, love, intimacy, fulfillment, and connection. Manipulators study our weaknesses and exploit what we believe or desire for their advantage.

Satan has been doing this from the very beginning. Through the serpent, he deceived Eve (1 Timothy 2:14). Discernment is necessary to see manipulation for what it is. It may be hard to recognize a serpent. But its intent is always to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). The enemy wants to rob your soul and leave you empty.

“The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps”

Proverbs 14:15

Seeking truth is wisdom. Truth always aligns with God’s Word. Truth fills our hearts, accompanies the wholeness within that comes from the love of God through the Holy Spirit. Seeking wisdom protects us from the lies of the enemy.

A Destiny Chaser chooses truth. A Destiny Chaser chooses wisdom. And a Destiny Chaser does their souls' work!
